Lingadzi Police Station in Lilongwe have arrested two suspects in connection with a house burglary that occurred in Mtsiliza Township.
Lingadzi Police Station spokesperson Sergeant Maria Kumwenda confirmed the development.
She identifies the suspects as Davison Ganizani (27) and Evance Mbewe (31).
According to Kumwenda, the two allegedly broke into a residential house belonging to Immaculate Mzungu and stole a 50-inch Hisense smart television.
“The break in is said to have been carried out by forcing entry through a window while the house was unoccupied,” she said.
Kumwenda said the victim reported the incident shortly after discovering the theft.
“Upon receiving the report, police detectives launched an intelligence-led operation to track down the suspects,” said Kumwenda.
She said the operation resulted in the arrest of the two men and the successful recovery of the stolen television set.
Police investigations indicate that the suspects were found in possession of the TV shortly after the burglary.
Both Ganizani and Mbewe have since admitted to committing the offence, according to police.
Ganizani comes from Kamtukule Village, while Mbewe hails from Kamwendo Village, both under Traditional Authority Kachere in Dedza District.
