RADICAL AGENDA MOVEMENT IN THE NIGERIAN BAR MOVEMENT CALLS FOR END TO ILLEGAL DEMOLITION IN MAKOKO COMMUNITY
We call expressly for an end to illegal demolition in Makoko Community in Lagos State.
Despite the valid and subsisting judgment of Honourable Justice Ogazi of the Lagos Division of the Federal High Court, the Lagos State Government acting through her front agencies has commenced demolition exceeding in the community .
While the government first of all correctly demolished the structures less than 100 metres from power lines in the community, it went beyond limits to commence demolition of houses far from the Power lines , thereby violating the judgment of the Honourable Court.
We call for restraint on the part of Lagos State Government and obedience of the valid and subsisting judgment of the court in the spirit of rule of law.
