Popular Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola also known as Portable, was arraigned before a Federal High Court in Ota, Ogun State, on Monday, facing a nine-count charge for assault, theft, causing harm, and resisting arrest.

The charges stem from a New Year’s Day incident at his bar in Iyana Ilogbo, where he allegedly attacked his estranged partner, Ashabi Simple, and several police officers.

Portable is accused of stealing a ₦12 million Mercedes-Benz E300 and assaulting police inspector Ogungbe Olayemi.

Two siblings of Ashabi Simple testified against him, but she wasn’t present in court.

The judge denied Portable bail, citing the need to see the assaulted officer, and remanded him until January 19.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police Command is investigating a viral video showing Portable being assaulted in custody, ensuring accountability.
