LAGOS STATE PUBLIC SCHOOL COLLAPSED ON STUDENTS DURING LECTURE HOURS
By Olayiwiola Ibrahim // A public school building at Odokerere High School in Ikorodu, Lagos State, collapsed on pupils while they were in class, but thankfully, no casualties were reported as students quickly escaped before sustaining serious injuries.
The incident has sparked concerns over the safety of public school infrastructure in the state, with many calling on the Lagos State Government to urgently inspect public school buildings.
The collapsed building was reportedly structurally defective, and the Ikorodu North Council Chairman, Mayor Ameen Apanisile, has ordered the immediate evacuation of the unsafe section and directed relevant departments to address the structural defects.
This incident is not isolated, as there have been previous reports of school buildings collapsing in Lagos State, highlighting the need for regular inspections and maintenance to ensure student safety.
