IYBF CONDEMNS PROPAGANDA IN AWUJALE SELECTION PROCESS
By Olayiwiola Ibrahim // The Ijebu Youth Solidarity Front (iYSF) has issued a stern warning to individuals attempting to derail the Awujale selection process through propaganda.
In a statement signed by Olabanjo Shobiye, the group expressed concern over indications that some aspirants, sensing defeat, are planning to smear opponents and undermine the process.
We have just been informed about a subterranean plan by one of the aspirants to indict the kingmakers of collecting bribe from one of the aspirants for the Awujale stool and as such cast a dent on the highly sacred process.
We will not fold our arms to allow an arm-twist, by any sinking aspirant to smear our much revered culture, the statement read.
The statement further stated that the kingmakers are working to bequeath a stainless Oba, and the process should be allowed to proceed without distractions.
The iYSF emphasized its commitment to protecting Ijebuland’s customs and traditions, warning that it will not tolerate manipulation or desperation from any quarter.
The group urged those involved in the alleged propaganda to cease their actions and allow due process to govern the selection.
A stitch in time can save more than nine, the statement concluded while appealing for calm and adherence to tradition.
Prince Abimbola Onabanjo one of the aspirants, has been a frontrunner in the selection process and has been praised for his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to community development.
His business acumen and philanthropic efforts have earned him recognition as a potential catalyst for Ijebu’s growth and development.
There are indications that Onabanjo may eventually come top in the race due to what observers attribute to his general acceptance by overwhelming majority of Ijebu people.
