Police in Lumbadzi, Lilongwe have apprehended two brothers suspected of orchestrating a major burglary at a private company near Chitukula Trading Centre.
The arrest follows an intelligence led operation carried out during the night of January 17 into the early hours of January 18, 2025, according to law enforcement officials.
Lumbadzi Police Station spokesperson, Sergeant Felix Kwinyani confirmed the arrests and said the suspects are believed to be key figures behind the crime.
The two men have been identified as Lala Samison, aged 33, from Msanyama Village, and his younger sibling, Davite Samison, 26, who hails from Kanama Village.
Police allege that the brothers were involved in a break in that occurred on August 14 last year at a farm warehouse owned by Greenland Company.
During the incident, unknown assailants forced their way into the facility and made away with a wide range of items, including maize, electric motors, cables, blenders, and various kitchen appliances.
The total value of the stolen goods is estimated at approximately K8 million, making the case one of the more significant property crimes reported in the area last year.
Kwinyani said the suspects have confessed to carrying out the crime with several accomplices, including Chiyembekezo Mackson, who is currently being held at Maula Prison while police continue efforts to track down other suspects and recover the missing property.
