By Olayiwiola Ibrahim // Lagos // The Lagos State Police Command has recorded major operational successes between December 2025 and January 2026, recovering 25 stolen and illegally converted vehicles, arresting dozens of suspects, and dismantling dangerous criminal networks across the state.

Speaking at a press briefing, the Command said the achievements were recorded through intelligence led policing, targeted raids, sustained surveillance and prompt tactical responses to crime.

During the period, suspects were arrested for offences ranging from conspiracy, robbery and armed robbery to car-snatching, fraudulent conversion, assault occasioning harm and threats to life.

In multiple operations, the police recovered four locally fabricated dane guns, 13 cut-to-size pistols, nine live cartridges, one expended cartridge, bundles of suspected fake foreign and Nigerian currencies, fetish charms and other dangerous weapons.

According to the Command, the recoveries reflect ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks, remove illegal firearms from circulation and strengthen public safety in Lagos.

21 One Chance Kidnappers Arrested
In January 2026, operatives acting on credible intelligence arrested 21 members of a notorious one chance kidnapping and robbery syndicate in Idimu, Alimosho area of the state.

Exhibits recovered include two Toyota Corolla vehicles, one Toyota Camry, fetish charms, 21 bundles of suspected fake US dollars and 12 bundles of suspected fake euros.

Police said the operation significantly disrupted the gang’s capacity to carry out violent crimes and coordinated attacks across Lagos.

Breakthrough in School Bomb Threat
The Command also recorded a breakthrough after a bomb threat message circulated on January 21 targeting three schools — two in Ikeja and one in the Ogombo area.

The threat caused panic among residents, but swift intelligence gathering and digital forensic investigations led to the arrest of one suspect.

Although the suspect claimed his phone had been lost before the threats were sent, investigators established that the same line was used to contact family members during and after the period.

The suspect remains in custody and will be charged to court after investigations are concluded.

Investigations Ongoing
The Command said several suspects are still assisting investigations as efforts continue to identify accomplices, trace interstate and cross-border vehicle-snatching links, verify ownership of recovered vehicles, track the source of fake currencies and strengthen oversight of car hire and informal transport services often exploited by criminals.

The Lagos State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, assuring residents that officers will continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of all Lagosians.
