Police in Lilongwe are investigating the death of Idah Memory Moyenda, a woman from Ndirande Majiga in Blantyre who was discovered dead in a lodge around the Malangalanga area after reportedly ingesting a poisonous substance.

According to police reports, the incident came to light after the lodge manager noticed that Moyenda had not checked out of her room more than three hours after the scheduled time.

Concerned about the unusual delay, the manager knocked on the door several times but received no response.

After repeated attempts failed, the manager contacted the police.

We gathered that officers later forced the door open and found Moyenda lying unresponsive inside the room.

Moyenda was known as a small scale entrepreneur who sold various womenโ€™s products including clothing, handbags, body sprays, slip on shoes and other accessories.

Authorities say the exact circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear, as no suicide note was found at the scene.

However, some friends have revealed that shortly before the incident, Moyenda posted a message on her WhatsApp status that read: โ€œPeople talk a lot.”

Police say investigations are continuing to determine what may have led to the suspected suicide.
