Shettima Visits Maiduguri Bomb Blast Victims at UMTH, Assures Support
Wuddeama Manga// Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has visited victims of the recent Maiduguri bomb blasts receiving treatment at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), in line with directives from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
During the visit, Shettima commiserated with victims and families affected by the attacks, describing the incident as tragic and condemnable, while reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to restoring peace and security in the region.
He was accompanied by officials including the Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), as part of efforts to assess the situation and coordinate relief support for victims.
The visit follows the deadly explosions that struck multiple locations in Maiduguri, including UMTH and the Monday Market, leaving over 20 people dead and more than 100 injured, according to authorities.
Shettima assured that the government would intensify security operations and provide necessary medical and humanitarian assistance to those affected.
