FG to Deploy AI-Powered Camera Network to Tackle Insecurity in Plateau
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced plans by the Federal Government to deploy AI-enabled surveillance cameras across Plateau State to combat rising insecurity.
The President disclosed this during his visit to Jos, following recent deadly attacks, noting that the initiative will strengthen intelligence gathering and real-time monitoring of security threats.
According to the plan, over 5,000 AI-powered digital cameras will be installed across strategic locations in the state, beginning with Jos and expanding to other areas.
Tinubu directed relevant authorities, including the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, to oversee the deployment and ensure effective implementation of the technology-driven security system.
The move is part of broader efforts by the Federal Government to integrate modern technology into Nigeria’s security architecture, following renewed violence in Plateau communities.
The President also reassured residents that the government remains committed to ending the cycle of attacks and restoring lasting peace in the state.
