Kogi community commends Professor Olu Obafemi’s efforts in grassroots development.
Sons and daughters of Okun nation have been urged to always adopt Combined efforts to achieve communal goals at the grassroots level.
The Obadofin of Kiri Kingdom, Oba Josiah Olabiwonnu stated this in an interview with newsmen in Lokoja.
Oba Olabiwonnu said his assessment of Okun nation in terms of community development demands collective efforts to meet up in the ever changing world.
He emphasized that government interventions at times can delay noting that pressing issues such as roads, market maintenance and charity works can speedily be achieved by illustrious sons and daughters of Okun nation.
The Traditional Ruler praised the Olukiri of Kiri Kingdom, Olu James Abayomi Ikusemoro and the entire traditional council for promoting initiatives that can attracts grassroots development.
He urged the people to emulate the Nigerian Poet, Playwright and Professor of English Language, Olu Obafemi who he described as a man with deep passion for development of his ancestral home.
His words; ” I must commend Professor Olu Obafemi, a shining light that is worthy of emulation. He is always in touch with the base and we are proud of that as a community, as a state, as a nation and even beyond. He has chaired various committee for the development of higher education in Okun land . Apart from that, he initiated the Barefoot College, (Osara, Kogi State) for renewable energy skills and advancing human capital development. Such efforts must be positively reinforced”.
He urged him to continue in that dimension, emphasizing that his positive roles will remained indelible till the end of time.
