By Kayode AdemolaL/LAGOS // Community members in Oviawe Street, Governor’s Road, Ikotun, Lagos State, have raised fresh concerns over a wave of violence allegedly linked to the same group of suspects, one week after the fatal shooting of a bride’s father and an MC known as Victor at a wedding ceremony on Oviawe Street.

According to a statement obtained by this reporter, the attack at Mr. Taiwo Durosimi’s residence has been followed by additional killings reported along Governor’s Road, Cancel Bus Stop, and Igando areas.

The source alleges these incidents were carried out by the same set of gang members operating within the Ikotun axis.

The statement also alleges that arrests made by operatives at Area M Command, Idimu, included suspects identified as Bimbo, described as a former leader of a local group called Eye fraternity Damilola, also known as Damose, and another individual who his name was known yet as of report, alongside others including one known as Ifaka who confessed several killings carried out by him.

The source claims the arrests followed a peaceful protest and were tied to ongoing investigations into cult activities in the community.

The source further alleged that the suspects were released on bail: Bimbo for ₦1.5 million, Damose through the intervention of a politician identified as Hon. Kehinde Joseph, who represents Lagos West Senatorial District in the House of Representatives, and “Power” for ₦200,000.

The statement claims Hon. Joseph sent his Personal Assistant to the Area M Commander, ACP Tokunbo Abaniwonda, to secure Damose’s release.

The allegations also link Bimbo to past incidents of violence, including the death of an individual known as Poison at Lasisi Ige, and the recent wedding ground killings of the bride’s father and MC Victor at Mr. Taiwo Durosimi’s residence.

In another dimension, several attacks also followed at Alhaja Fausat Street and other Street, by the same set of cult groups.

The source further alleges that landlords’ sons in the area are fingered in cult activities and are collaborating with the gang, contributing to the escalation of violence that has claimed the lives of persons not affiliated with any group.

The statement commended the Divisional Police Officers of Ikotun, CSP Sadiku Afolabi Ibrahim, and Idimu, CSP Oni Waheed, for their efforts in effecting some arrests, while calling on others still at large to be apprehended.

The community is now calling on the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, the President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the Senate President, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, to investigate the alleged release of suspects, the continued killings, and sanction any public officials or individuals found to be supporting cult activities.
