GUARD TIME INFORMATION CONDEMNS FRESH PLATEAU MASSACRE, CALLS FOR DECISIVE ACTION AGAINST TERRORISM

Wuddeama Manga// Guard Time Information, Human Rights Activists Nationwide, strongly condemns the gruesome and senseless killing of no fewer than twenty-one innocent residents of Kawel Village in Mushere Kingdom, Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Speaking to the press, the Chairman of the organization, Comrade Bibi Oduku, described the attack as barbaric, inhuman, and a direct assault on peace, security, and human dignity.

We are deeply saddened by the recurring cycle of violence that continues to claim innocent lives, destroy communities, and undermine the peace and unity for which Plateau State has long been known. The latest attack, reportedly carried out while residents were asleep, highlights the urgent need for more proactive and effective security measures to protect vulnerable communities.

Guard Time Information extends its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, the people of Mushere Kingdom, and the Government and people of Plateau State. We pray for the peaceful repose of the souls of the deceased and the speedy recovery of those injured during the attack.

The recurrence of these attacks, coming shortly after the killing of a traditional ruler in the same local government area, is deeply troubling and unacceptable. We therefore call on security agencies to intensify intelligence gathering, strengthen rapid response mechanisms, and ensure that the perpetrators of these heinous crimes are identified, arrested, prosecuted, and brought to justice.

We further urge the Federal Government, the Plateau State Government, security agencies, traditional institutions, religious leaders, civil society organisations, and community stakeholders to work collaboratively in addressing the root causes of insecurity and promoting dialogue, reconciliation, and mutual trust among all communities.

While government remains primarily responsible for the protection of lives and property, communities should strengthen lawful neighbourhood watch structures, improve information sharing with security agencies, and remain vigilant against suspicious activities within their environments.

We also call on all residents of Plateau State to reject violence, reprisals, hate speech, and every form of ethnic or religious profiling. Lasting peace can only be achieved through justice, respect for human dignity, tolerance, and an unwavering commitment to the rule of law.

Guard Time Information reiterates that no grievance, disagreement, or perceived injustice can justify the unlawful taking of human lives. Terrorism, banditry, and violent extremism, irrespective of their source or motivation, remain grave threats to peaceful coexistence, national unity, and sustainable development.

We therefore call for a united national response against all forms of terrorism and violent criminality threatening Plateau State and other parts of Nigeria. The sanctity of human life must remain paramount, and every Nigerian deserves to live in peace, security, and dignity while contributing meaningfully to the development of our nation.

The time to end the bloodshed is now. Plateau State must not continue to bleed. We urge government at all levels to take decisive action to safeguard communities, restore public confidence, and ensure that justice prevails.
