Ogun 2027: PDP Loses More Grassroot Politicians to APC Yayi
The governorship aspiration of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) recorded another major boost over the weekend as more prominent leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Ogun West Senatorial District defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in support of his gubernatorial ambition.
The defectors, who were formally received into the APC by Senator Adeola, include Mrs. Adeyemi Kemi, former Ogun PDP State Women Leader during the Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD) administration, and Mrs. Akinbo Iyabode Folusho, former PDP Ogun West Senatorial Women Leader.
Their defection further strengthens the growing momentum behind Senator Yayi’s governorship bid and reinforces the increasing wave of support he continues to enjoy across the state.
Beyond the defections, the development sends a strong political message that leaders and stakeholders across Ogun West, regardless of their political affiliations, are putting partisan interests aside to rally behind their son, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi).
The emerging consensus in Ogun West is that Senator Yayi’s governorship aspiration has become a collective project of the district. With politicians across party lines openly identifying with his ambition, support for his candidacy continues to gather momentum as the 2027 governorship election approaches.
