We're Restricting Nigeria's Security Architecture' -Tinubu Tells Catholic Bishops

By Wuddeama Manga/ABUJA// President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerians that the country is on the path to lasting security and economic prosperity.

Speaking while receiving the leadership of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) at the State House on Tuesday, President Tinubu said his administration is restructuring the nation’s security architecture, expanding the Armed Forces, acquiring more military equipment, and improving the welfare of security personnel to defeat terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping.

The President also stated that the economy has recovered from the brink of bankruptcy, saying his government has stabilised the nation and that “prosperity is on the horizon.”

On education, he highlighted the impact of NELFUND and noted that universities are now enjoying uninterrupted academic sessions, with ASUU no longer embarking on prolonged strikes.

President Tinubu reaffirmed that INEC remains neutral ahead of the 2027 general elections and called on all Nigerians, including religious leaders, to promote peace, unity, education, and national development.

The Catholic Bishops, led by Archbishop Matthew Ndagoso, commended the President’s engagement while raising concerns over security, poverty, education, democratic governance, and the need for credible elections in 2027.
