Police Raid Osun SSG, Teslim Igbalaye’s House, Detain Him, 5 Others
Secretary to Osun State Government Teslim Igbalaye and five others have been arrested and detained by Osun Police Command following raid on his residence in Osogbo Wednesday.
Police said one arrested at SSG residence was Oladele Abiodun, 38, suspect on its watchlist for alleged criminal offences.
Disclosed by Osun Police PRO Abiodun Ojelabi in statement obtained in Osogbo.
Ojelabi said total of N4,810,500, two Permanent Voter Cards, voter register for Wards 1-15, Dynabook laptop, photocopier and printer were recovered from Igbalaye residence.
Others arrested alongside Igbalaye identified as Akande Taiwo 60, Adeyemo Lukman 45, Olaoye Muftau 50, and Aderemi Musliu 40.
PPRO said team acting on intelligence that members of criminal gang were hiding at location in Osogbo carried out lawful raid.
Exhibits secured for forensic examination. Recovery raises serious concerns regarding possible electoral offences.
Facts disclose reasonable grounds to investigate offences including bribery of voters (vote-buying) contrary to Section 121 Electoral Act 2022, criminal conspiracy, harbouring wanted criminal.
Command emphasised allegations have far-reaching implications for public security and credibility of democratic process, said no individual irrespective of status is above law, anyone culpable will be prosecuted.
Osun State Government through Commissioner for Information Kolapo Alimi had accused Police of invading SSG residence without search warrant led by Deputy Commissioner Operations.
