NO BLACKMAIL WILL STOP JUSTICE IN AJIRAN KILLINGS- CIVIL RIGHTS COALITION DEFENDS FORMER LAGOS CP
By Olayiwola Ibrahim // A coalition of civil rights activists has rejected allegations linking former Lagos State Commissioner of Police, AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, to the investigation into the late singer Mohbad’s death, describing the claims as false and misleading.
Addressing journalists in Lagos, the group stated that official records show AIG Jimoh was not the Commissioner of Police when Mohbad died on 12 September 2023.
According to the coalition:
– AIG Idowu Owohunwa was the Lagos CP at the time of Mohbad’s death.
– He was later succeeded by AIG Adegoke Fayoade.
– CP Ishola Olanrewaju Olawale followed before CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh assumed office on 18 February 2025.
– Jimoh was later redeployed in March 2026.
The coalition argued that attempts to associate AIG Jimoh with the initial Mohbad investigation amount to a distortion of the facts and are aimed at damaging his reputation.
The group also alleged that some individuals facing prosecution for serious offences, including alleged murder and land grabbing, have resorted to misinformation and blackmail to undermine law enforcement officers.
On the Ajiran killings, the activists insisted that the legal process must continue without interference, stressing that no campaign of falsehood or intimidation would stop the pursuit of justice.
They further urged Nigerians to verify information before sharing it, warning that misinformation can weaken public trust in security institutions and obstruct justice.
