LASRRA REGISTRATION HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED COMPULSORY FOR SCHOOL ADMISSION IN LAGOS BY LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT
By Olayiwola Ibrahim //Lagos// Lagos State Government has made registration with the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) compulsory for learners seeking admission into public and private schools across the state.
The new directive will take effect from the 2026/2027 academic session, with schools required to obtain and record the valid LASRRA registration number of every learner from Monday, September 14, 2026.
According to a statement issued by the Deputy Director of the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA), Adepeju Adeyemi, the directive was approved by the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Tolani Alli-Balogun.
The government said the policy is aimed at creating a comprehensive and verifiable database of learners across Lagos State.
Alli-Balogun explained that the initiative would improve planning, monitoring and service delivery in the education sector by providing the government with reliable data on learners.
He added that capturing learners on the LASRRA database would strengthen record-keeping, identification and verification, while also helping government agencies track learners and make evidence-based decisions.
Schools have been directed to include the LASRRA registration number of every learner in their admission and school records and to sensitise parents and guardians about the new requirement.
