POLICE WELFARE: CP TIJANI FATAI PRESENTS N89.2M CHEQUES TO FAMILIES OF DECEASED OFFICERS
By Olayiwola Ibrahim // The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, today presented 157 cheques amounting to Eighty-Nine Million, Two Hundred and One Thousand, Five Hundred and Twenty-Three Naira, Seven Kobo (N89,201,523.07) to families and next-of-kin of deceased Police officers who served under the Command.
The cheques represent claims under the welfare and insurance schemes of the Nigeria Police Force, aimed at providing financial support to families of officers who paid the supreme price in the line of duty.
The presentation ceremony, held at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, underscores the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, to the welfare of personnel and families of fallen heroes.
CP Tijani Fatai noted that while the financial support cannot replace the lives of the deceased officers, it demonstrates the Force’s resolve to honour their sacrifices and ensure that their families are not abandoned.
The Commissioner sympathized with the beneficiaries and urged them to make judicious use of the funds, particularly for the welfare and education of the children and dependants left behind.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring prompt processing of legitimate claims due to families of deceased personnel, assuring serving officers that their welfare and that of their families remain a top priority of the Force.
He added that though no amount can replace a loved one, the gesture provides a measure of relief and reassures that the sacrifices of fallen officers will never be forgotten.
The Lagos State Police Command appreciated the Inspector-General of Police for the intervention and extended heartfelt sympathy and continued solidarity to the beneficiaries.
