APC TARGETS 5 MILLION DISABILITY VOTES FOR TINUBU’S 2027 RE-ELECTION
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has unveiled plans to mobilise at least 5 million votes from the disability community in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 general elections.
The council reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive political participation, recognising the numerical strength and contributions of persons with disabilities in Nigeria’s democratic process.
Speaking on the party’s commitment to inclusion, Hon. Lois Auta, Deputy Director for Women with Disabilities at the APC Presidential Campaign Council, commended the APC for creating opportunities for women with disabilities to participate in political leadership and decision-making.
Hon. Auta, who is also the Global President of the Network of Women with Disabilities and President of the APC Women with Disabilities Forum, highlighted the establishment of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities under President Tinubu’s administration. She also referenced ongoing efforts towards the Reserved Seats Bill for women and persons with disabilities.
She described the inclusion of a woman with a disability in the leadership of the Presidential Campaign Council’s directorate as a significant step towards promoting representation, equality and participation in party affairs.
According to her, persons with disabilities, including women, possess the numerical strength and political influence to contribute significantly to the President’s re-election campaign.
The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including Hon. Ayuba Burki Gufwan, Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities, and Misbahu Lawan Didi, Directorate Secretary, alongside other members of the campaign council.
The initiative underscores the APC’s efforts to strengthen its engagement with the disability community and mobilise support nationwide ahead of the 2027 elections.
At the APC Women with Disabilities Forum, we believe that inclusion is more than representation it is the opportunity to participate, lead and shape Nigeria’s political future.
