THE FAKE BUHARI STORY OR RUSE BY AKINTOMIDE AROSO

President Buhari
Arguably, the most prominent discussion on the lips of Nigerians this week is the alleged ‘discovery of an impostor’ as Nigeria’s leader. Alleged supposedly by the embattled Supreme Leader of The Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, a Sudanese who is a body look-alike of Buhari was put under the knife to reshape some edges in a bid to deceive Nigerians and give us the notion that our President recovered from his ‘bed-riddenness’ and could take back leadership of the country. To believers of this conspiracy, the act was perfected during the long stay of Mr President at the Abuja House in London.
Be that as it may, we are no fools. In saner climes, the President would have by now addressed the nation on his ‘true human frame’, but being Nigerian President (and being around the corridors of power in Africa generally) have a way of turning a man into a demigod overnight; as such, to Mr President, he owes us no explanation. He is whoever they say he is.
Don’t get me wrong; I barely believe the ‘Jubril-Jubrin’ story, but with the ‘no-real-response’ from the President’s media team, alot seem possible.
It was alleged that the President’s children have no access to him anymore and they get taken care of by a minister. They say even his wife had stopped going to the Presidential Villa since Buhari returned from London.
What exactly is true? Is Buhari truly dead (they say he died January 27th, 2017)? Or are Nigerian politicians now that desperate so much so they’d say and do anything just to get elected into office? Do they not say they are ‘going into office’ to serve us? Is it a must to serve us? Must you manipulate us to serve us? So much hypocrisy!
I saw a picture recently, purported to be that of the Sultan of Sokoto bending to a sitting Rochas Okorocha, the Imo State governor. It’s being peddled around that the Sultan was pleading with Okorocha not to expose what he knows about the many machinations of a cabal within the Presidency. As I hear, the truth about the ‘Jubril-Jubrin’ episode is paramount on Okorocha’s list of ‘secrets’ he is using to force Adams Oshiomole and the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Imo State into doing his will clandestinely through the ‘Presidency cabal’.
I’m not a politician; but, I wouldn’t deny being sympathetic to the APC. I have a clear head as touching this ‘Buhari-Jubril’ imbroglio. If Mr President is indeed the Buhari we voted for, let him come out to clear the air on issues (wrinkles, ear curvings, voice, recognition of supposedly old acquaintances etc) raised by this accusers. That would have already happened in saner climes and not some sparsely worded speech written and read by a media personnel. Buhari himself should address Nigerians on the issue; at least, they say he’s serving us.
At the end, this shouldn’t be ‘one of those breaking news’. This one should have an effect on either the supposed Buhari and his co-conspirators or on the ‘whistle-blower’. Nigeria is fast going down a path of uncultured and unchecked reportage of anything anyone who has access to the social media can think of and would feed same to innocent minds as the truth; this shameful trend has to stop.
