By Olayiwola Ibrahim // Lagos // The Lagos Automobile Club (LAC) was officially unveiled today at the LCC Conference & Exhibition Centre, Nurudeen Olowopopo Way, Ikeja, Lagos State.
The event brought together key stakeholders in transportation, road safety, and automotive advocacy.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Obayemi Segun, Technical Adviser to the President on Transportation and Logistics, emphasized that transportation remains a critical pillar of Nigeria’s economy but requires proper organization and management.
It is time to begin implementing systems that will transform Nigeria’s transportation sector.
By establishing an Auto Club that can compete globally, we can change the narrative and modernize our transportation model, Dr. Obayemi stated.
He explained that the Club’s core aims and objectives are to promote responsible driving culture, uphold values within Nigeria’s transportation ecosystem, and create a platform for collaboration between government officials, law enforcement, and citizens.
As motoring enthusiasts, the Auto Club will break down barriers and build bridges between the people, government agencies, and law enforcement by offering solutions and setting the direction for mobility, he added.
He also stressed that LAC will work to improve driving culture in Nigeria, which he noted is currently below average.
