The founder of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has responded to the N10 billion defamation threat issued by former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, insisting that he never defamed the politician but merely delivered a prophecy he claimed to have received from God.

Reacting to the legal notice served on him by Kwankwaso’s lawyers, Ayodele maintained that his comments regarding the former governor’s political future were prophetic messages and not statements intended to damage anyone’s reputation.

The cleric said prophets are divinely mandated to reveal messages as they receive them and should not be accused of defamation for sharing spiritual warnings or revelations. He argued that his remarks about Kwankwaso and the opposition coalition were based solely on what he described as divine instruction.

The controversy began after Ayodele reportedly warned that Kwankwaso could betray the opposition alliance and Peter Obi, comments that prompted the former governor to issue a 24-hour ultimatum demanding a retraction and public apology. Kwankwaso’s legal team described the statements as false, malicious, and damaging to his reputation.

However, Ayodele has rejected the allegations, insisting that prophecies should not be interpreted as personal attacks, adding that he remains committed to delivering what he believes are divine messages regardless of public reaction.
