Governor Alex Otti of Abia Approves Medical Support for Actress Ngozi Nwosu as She Battles Health Challenges
Abia State Governor Alex Otti has approved payment for the first phase of veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu’s medical expenses following her public appeal for assistance.
The 62-year-old actress, who hails from Arochukwu, Abia State, recently revealed that she had spent about three weeks in the hospital while receiving treatment for an undisclosed health condition. She disclosed that she requires three surgeries estimated to cost about ₦30 million and appealed for support from Nigerians, fans, and colleagues.
The governor’s intervention was announced on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, by Justice Okey Martins (J Martins), Governor Otti’s Senior Special Assistant on Tourism and Entertainment.
According to the announcement, Governor Otti approved the first tranche of her medical bills, with appreciation expressed on behalf of the creative industry. However, further support from well-wishers and members of the public is still being encouraged to help meet her remaining medical needs.
The exact amount approved for the first phase of payment was not disclosed.
The development has been welcomed by many Nigerians, who have continued to show support for Ngozi Nwosu, one of Nollywood’s most respected actresses, known for her decades-long contribution to the Nigerian film industry.
