LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT DONATES 2000, COWRY CARDS TO LAGOS STATE POLICE COMMAND

By Olayiwola Ibrahim // The Lagos State Police Command has taken delivery of 2,000 Cowry Cards from the Lagos State Government to assist with the transportation needs of police officers across the State.

The cards were officially presented by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transportation and Logistics, Hon. Hassan Adekoya, to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc (+), NPM, who was represented by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of FCID Annex, Lagos, AIG Simeon U. Akpanudom, psc, fdc, mspsp, MNIM, FCAI.

Under the Lagos State Government’s transportation welfare programme, the 2,000 beneficiary officers will enjoy three months of free rides on designated state transport services. This includes BRT, Electric Boats, Blue Line and Red Line services.

After the initial three months, they will continue to enjoy a *50% fare discount.

Speaking on behalf of the IGP, AIG Akpanudom conveyed the appreciation of the Inspector-General of Police and commended the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, for the kind gesture and his continuous support for police welfare through various initiatives.

He stated that the support will reduce the transportation burden on officers, boost morale, and further strengthen the collaboration between the Lagos State Government and the Nigeria Police Force in ensuring public safety, security, and good governance.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, also assured that the Cowry Cards would be distributed to deserving officers in a transparent and equitable manner, and would be used strictly for the purpose intended without abuse.

He further reiterated the Command’s commitment to upholding professionalism and accountability, while utilizing all available resources to ensure a safer Lagos for residents.
