LAGOS COUNCIL POLL: Aspirants Reject Imposition, Scuttle Selection Process

The orhestrated party primary/stakeholders’ meeting sheduled to hold in Mosan Okunola LCDA and Alimosho LG today against the LASIEC official dates were scuttled by aggrieved party members in both Local council.

In Mosan/Okunola the political crisis arose over planned attempts by some self acclaimed party leaders to impose Councillorship and Chairmanship candidates in the forthcoming local government election against the will of the electorates.

It was reported that the council chief had to invite the Nigerian Police Force to forestall any breakdown of law and order. The police responded to the political unrest by firing teargas at protesters, mostly party members, in local government secretariat.

Protesters came purposely to demand transparent party primaries instead of selection or imposition.

In Alimosho LG, the situation was indifferent, as the angry protesters in Alimosho LG, were openly seen, chanting the name of one of the party leader, Alhaji Abdullahi Enilolobo in a derogatory chorus, they were busy chanting *_G18 ole, Enilolobo ole_* .

The Atmosphere in Alimosho LG secretariat was not peaceful for the planned  meeting and primaries, as the aggrieved party members were able to overwhelm the decision to organise a party primary by some leaders of the party in local government, against the official dates announced by LASIEC.

Recall that the official dates for the chairmanship and counsillorship primaries are Friday 26th May, 2017, and Saturday 27th May, 2017, respectively.
