Governor Bello Wants Youths in Kogi to Shun Cultism
Governor Yahaya Bello gave the advice in a message to the inauguration of the first Kogi West Youth Empowerment Security Summit and Launching of “Kogi Must Remain Safe Campaign in Lokoja.
Governor Bello who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Edward Onoja said the present administration would not relent in its efforts to protect lives and properties and urged youths to be creative in achieving lives goals
He recalled the ordeals of an octogenarian who was kidnapped from the central senatorial district of the state and spent over ninety days in captivity, noting that such inhumanity to man would not be condoned in the state.
Governor Bello emphasized that the state has since improved in the aspect of security with the motivation and synergy created by government and security agencies.
In a remark, the newly elected Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Prince Mathew Kolawole said gone were the days when cultism and thuggery were yardsticks to survival and appealed to youths to engage in empowerment programs to become self reliant.
He also advised the youths to believed in their dreams and avoid being influenced by self seeking politicians who use them for negative tendencies.
Earlier, the convener of the program who is also the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youths Empowerment for the Kogi west, Comrade Aiyelabowo Adebanji said the his decision to organize the program was to compliment government’s efforts in the area of security.
Similarly in their address, the Commissioner of Youths and Sports, Comrade
Arome Adoji and the Chief Launcher at the occasion, Mr Semi Jones commended the state government for creating enabling environment to attract foreign investors.
Present at the occasion were the State Security Adviser. Commodore Jerry Omodara, NURTW’s Chairman, Alhaji Jibril Salola, Commissioner for Transport, Mr Salish Ogu, S.A on Youth Empowerment Sports and Students Affairs, Comrade ADEOLA Eseyin among others.
