Fed. Uni-Lokoja Lines Up Activities Ahead of Convocation Ceremony

Two hundred and eighty eight graduates are to be conferred with first degree in various discipline at the second convocation ceremony of the Federal University Lokoja.

The V,ice Chancellor of the University, Professor Angela Miri who stated this in a press briefing in Lokoja in commemoration of the convocation ceremony slated for Saturday this weekend  said the conferment of the first degree will be done by the Chancellor of the institution, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Muhammadu Abali Ibn Muhammadu Idris.

Professor Miri emphasized the determination of the institution to graduate the students in record time to discourage their preference to travel abroad to study.

She explained that the line of activities to mark the event include;  tree planting at the permanent site of the University, Convocation lecture with the topic “Resources and the Prospect of Development in Nigerian Universities, Juma ‘ at prayer, Chancellor ‘s Night, and interdenominational Thanksgiving Service.

She emphasized on the desire to move to the permanent site at Felele noting that most of the structures needed for academic activities have been completed.

The Vice Chancellor however appealed to the state government to assist in the Perimeter Fencing to ensure adequate security.

Professor Miri disclosed that the institution has broaden its horizon in academic activities with the reaccreditation and establishment of more programs  particularly in Arts and Social Sciences noting that  Science courses will be fully accredited by May next year.

On post graduate studies,  Professor Miri said the institution is set to commence programs in Faculty of Arts, Social Sciences and Sciences soon.
