Kogi Assembly Speaker presents constituency project allowance to constituents
Speaking at an interactive session with All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmen of the five Wards that make up the constituency, Imam told them that the money is meant to providing infrastructure for constituencies of the state.
He said he decided to fulfill his promise to his people in view of the ethics he holds dear to his heart as to why he joined politics, which is to bring positive change to the downtrodden in the society.
The legislator, who said he was not in politics or office for self enrichment, tasked the public to task their elected representatives, saying that the period where decisions are made by politicians without the input of the people that elected them is in the past.
He therefore challenged electorate to keep their ears to the ground, ask questions, demand answers where they are not clear and ensure that politicians are accountable for every penny they make in politics.
Efforts by the APC led Federal and Kogi State Government to reign in positive change in the society cannot be achieved if the people themselves do not take charge of what is going on with elected representatives, Imam noted.
With these check, Rt. Hon Imam informed the constituents that projects to be executed for each constituency, is to be suggested by the people, informing them that since each is getting the sum of N1 million, their proposed projects to be executed should not be more the amount available.
He said they should make sure that the people at the grassroots, who are the real people he has at heart, because they are the ones who labour to ensure their victories at the polls, should be taken along.
The Speaker reiterated the continued determination of the Assembly under his leadership to ensure that the interest of the common man is protected and also that all deliberations and laws made are for societal development.
While calling on the executives of the party at the Ward level to prevent themselves from being used to further cause disaffection among party faithful, Imam stressed the need for them to resist personal interest in place of truth and sincerity.
He therefore assured them of the determination of his leadership to attract further development in all parts of Lokoja I constituency.
Speaking, party executives from all the five wards who thanked him for his transparency and efforts to attract more democratic dividends to them, assured him of the resolve to always queue behind him at all times.
