According to the RIWAMA Chairman, there is need for all to be kind to our environment because of its natural and spiritual influences which affect the growth and development of human beings, stressing that people’s attitudes to life are basically the reflection of their environment.

Bro Obuah appealed to all residents in the State to see World Environment Day as declared by the United Nations and celebrated every 5th of June to reflect on the state of their surroundings and, or habitats with a view to ridding them of all dirt and wastes.

On the part of the Rivers State government, the Sole Administrator said the Governor Wike administration places high premium on good sanitary standards, and has put all machinery in place to facilitate this necessity.

The State Waste Management Agency, as an organ of govt, Bro Obuah said, is leaving no stone unturned to assist the governor achieve his New Vision for the State and has therefore mobilized and empowered waste service providers to ensure that all nooks and crannies of the State are kept clean and safe for living, stressing that health is wealth.

“It’s also in pursuit of this lofty objective that all relevant and extant environmental and sanitation laws of the State have been re-enforced.

Dumpsites are readily available at the designated places, receptacles are provided to contain littering of wastes on our streets and roads.

All these are some of the efforts of the govt to have a decent environment for living, doing business and recreating etc. It is therefore necessary for all hands to be on deck to keep our environment safe and healthy”, the RIWAMA chairman declared.

On global warming, Bro Obuah said though it’s a consequence of technological advancement, corporate organizations and multi-national oil companies should adhere to safety rules and standards to save the world the imminent threat to the ecosystem and by implication to human, metal, animal and vegetable life etc.

Wishing all a happy Environment Day celebration, Bro Obuah declared Gov Nyesom Wike man of the year for 2016 World Environment Day in appreciation of all his efforts in the area of infrastructural development which he said, has tremendously impacted positively on the people.
