Faso government commissioner, Alioune Zanre on Tuesday, said all cases related to the Sept. 16, 2015 attempted coup will be concluded before the end of this year.

Zanre disclosed this when he addressed newsmen in Ouagadougou.
“Between now and the end of the year, we shall start hearing the cases if the objections filed at the Court of Appeal are concluded on time.
“Also, if the parties do not raise any other procedural objections,’’ Zanre said.
On Sept. 16, 2016, soldiers from the ex-Presidential Security Regiment briefly overthrew Burkina Faso’s transition government, before being defeated by protesters and regular army officers who came from the interior of the country.

After the coup, several confidants of the country’s ex-president Blaise Compaore, both army officers and civilians, suspected of having taken part in the coup, were arrested.
The coup leader, Gen. Gilbert Diendere and Djibrill Bassole who was a former foreign affairs minister, were arrested and detained alongside many of their suspected accomplices.
The government commissioner said 75 people were charged in relation to the case, among who 50 were currently detained, 17 were out on bond while the other eight were not in detention. (Xinhua/NAN)
