CAN Removes Oritsejafor, Elects Rev. Ayokunle of Baptist Church As President
The reign of afro hair style pastor, Ayo Oritsejafor as President of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, finally came to an end as Nigeria Christian body on Tuesday elects Supo Ayokunle as its new president.
Reverend Ayokunle, who is the current national president of Nigerian Baptist Convention, takes over from Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor.
The election that produced the new CAN president was conducted at the National Ecumenical Center, Abuja.
At the poll, Rev. Ayokunle defeated his rival, Joseph Otubu of the Motailatu Church Cherubim and Seraphim Movement, MCCSW, with 54 votes to 28. The provision of CAN constitution stipulates that the runner up to the elected president automatically becomes the vice President
It was the immediate past president of the body, Pastor Oritsejafor, that announced the result of the election and declared Rev. Ayokunle his successor
