Kwara NUJ correspondents’ chapel hails Oloyede’ s appointment as JAMB’s registrar

The Correspondents’ Chapel of the Kwara State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has hailed the  appointment of immediate past vice chancellor of University of Ilorin, Professor Ishaq Oloyede as the new, Registrar, Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, (JAMB) by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The chapel in a statement issued by its newly inaugurated secretary and acting chairman,Umar Abdulwahab and Aliyu Usman respectively, described the appointment “as a round peg in a round hole”.

The statement recalled that Oloyede’s track record of achievements as a former vice chancellor of the university of Ilorin were enough to credentials to earn him the job.

It recalled that Oloyede during his tenure as unilorin’s vice chancellor introduced a Computer Based Test (CBT) for students which JAMB latter adopted in its examination.

The statement noted that Oloyede’s appointment could not have come at a better time than now when admission process into Nigeria’s higher institution’s of learning is being reviewed.

The statement urged the new JAMB registrar to bring his experience as a former university administrator to bear in his new task of ensuring that quality and qualified candidates were admitted into the nation’s higher institution’s of learning without necessarily subjecting them to exploitation.
