The President, and Sole Sponsor of Go-Round Football Club, Bro. Felix Obuah has praised the gallantry of Nigeria’s men football team, popularly called ‘Dream Team VI,’ for winning a bronze medal at the Rio Olympics in Brazil.

Bro. Obuah, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt said he was highly elated as the victory came at a time Nigerians yearned to have their name at the medals table.

Bro. Obuah, who recently sponsored the first ever Athletics Championship for Secondary Schools in Rivers State, also hailed the boys for making history, as Nigeria became the first African country to complete an Olympic medal sweep, having won Olympic gold in Atlanta, 1996; Silver in Beijing, 2008, and Bronze in Rio-Brazil, 2016.

The sports-loving football club owner, who is also the Rivers State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said the Dream Team VI lived up to their name by bringing the dream of Nigerians to reality.

Obuah, who is also the Sole Administrator of the Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA), while showering praises on the boys for a brilliant team work, however commended Team Captain, John Mikel Obi, for his inspiring role in leading the team to victory.

“I must commend the excellent role of Skipper John Mikel Obi for proving his mettle as a world class professional player.  As the captain of the team, he did a brilliant work in building confidence in his team, that despite the painful Semi-Final loss to the Germans, went on to beat Honduras to clinch the bronze medal and put Nigeria on the medals table,” Obuah said.

Bro. Obuah said appreciation should go also to the sports-loving Governor of Rivers State, Chief (Barr) Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, whose support and encouragement kick-started the victory run of the Olympic football team.

The Go-Round FC boss recalled that the Dream Team VI started their journey to Brazil in Port Harcourt, where they defeated their Congolese counterpart 2-1 in their last qualifying match, adding that the Governor also prayed for the team’s success at the Olympics before their departure in Port Harcourt.

Bro. Obuah urged youths of Rivers State to draw inspiration from the victory of the Olympic Team and to strive to greater heights.
