Kaduna lawmaker Ismail kidnapped, says Police
The Police in Kaduna state on Tuesday confirmed the abduction of Ibrahim Ismail, a member of Kaduna State House of Assembly.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Aliyu Usman, made the confirmation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Ismail was abducted early on Tuesday at his residence in Abapka area in Kaduna metropolis.
The lawmaker represents Tudun Wada constituency in the House of ssembly
Usman said the command has deployed its officers to rescue the lawmaker.
He said the rescue effort was being conducted in conjunction with the intelligence unit of the Force Headquarters.
Reports said the kidnappers have made contact with Ismail’s family and are demanding about N70 million.
Kaduna has earned the notoriety of being an axis of kidnappers.
The police have claimed in the past to have smashed the kidnapping gangs at various times, but the kidnapping continues
