The Kano State Head of Service, Alhaji Awwal Na’iya has debunked the rumour going round in the state that the state government planned to retrench workers.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer in the office of the Head of service, Mustapha Fagge and made available to newsmen in Kano on Thursday.

According to the statement, the Head of service made the clarification when he received the newly elected executive members of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria, Kano state Chapter who paid him a courtesy visit on Thursday

“The Head of Service, Alhaji Awwal Na’iya has described the rumour as baseless and unfounded, “ The statement said.

Na’iya equally dispelled another rumour that the state government had also planned to make table payment for August salary of staff of local governments and SUBEB

He said the rumour was the handiwork of mischief makers who are not happy with the tremendous achievements recorded by the government in last one year.

“Rather the government has fulfilled its promise to pay workers salary before Eid-el-Kabir as many of them have already received their salary since Friday last week.

He, therefore, urged civil servants in the state to disregard the rumour as there was no iota of truth in it.

Earlier, the Chairman of the association, Mr Lawal Garba called for the establishment of medical laboratory scientists department in the Hospital Management Board.

He said the request was in line with the reform process of the government and global best practices
