Aondona Hyacinth Dajoh: The Vibrant Legislator Who Holds The Mace in Benue Assembly

By Wale Abydeen/ABUJA// Governor Hyacinth Alia inaugurated the 10th Benue State House of Assembly on Monday, June 5, 2023.

And of course having the majority, the governor’s will was done. The 10th Benue State House of Assembly on Monday elected the member representing Gboko West constituency, Aondona Hyacinth Dajoh, as its speaker.

The position of speaker was zoned to Gboko LGA which is Benue North-West. The governor is from Vandeikya LGA of Benue North-East, while the Deputy Governor is from Otukpo LGA of Benue South Senatorial District.

The new speaker, Dajoh was born on June 5, 1976, at NKST Christian Hospital, Mkar. He hails from Mbadajoh, Mbasur, Mbaanku district of Mbatiav, Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State.

The speaker is the son of Elder Nzuul Anshibi Biam Dajoh and his mother was the late Mama Sarah Mbahunan Nzuul, daughter of Kposu  Agera Nyia of  Mbaade, Mbagen, Buruku LGA of Benue State

Hon Dajoh had his elementary education at St. Francis Primary School, Gboko East, RCM Primary School, Abwa and completed at LGEA Primary School, Tyoadu, Mbatiav where he obtained his certificate of primary education in 1988.

 In 1989, he was admitted to Government Secondary School, Garagbohol (now Government Science and Technical College, Garagbohol) and also had a stint at St. John’s Secondary School, Gboko where he had his post-primary education and obtained his Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) at Kyaan College, Gwarche in Tarka LGA of Benue State in 2015.

In 2016, he enrolled at the Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo where he obtained a diploma in Business Management in 2018. He proceeded to Fidei Polytechnic, Gboko for his Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business Management specializing in Marketing from 2019 to 2022. Still not satisfied, he was admitted to the Nasarawa State University, Keffi for a post-graduate diploma in Business Management. He is a member of many professional bodies including Human Capital Management and Skill Development of Nigeria.

Hyacinth Dajoh was employed as a staff of Gboko Local Government Area in 1996 as Finance Assistant II with the Revenue Department of Gboko local government council for over two decades and retired in 2022 and joined partisan politics. As someone who loves communal effort, he served Mbatiav Youth and Jemgbagh Youth Association as a secretary from 2010 to 2014 and from 2013 to 2018 respectively.

Married to Cynthia Kundumiyol with children,  Aondona Dajoh is a compassionate young man who genuinely and sincerely lends a helping hand to those who encounter him. He has helped many people to reach their potential and made the dreams of numerous became a reality.

Tersoo Adagher is a political analyst and an Abuja based indigene of Benue state. He opines that the voting pattern of 15 votes for Orpine and 17 for Dajoh, making the young vibrant legislator the speaker of the 10th assembly suggests the house is sharply divided and Mr. Speaker may need to work hard towards maintaining a one house required for Governor Alia’s success.
