By Olayiwola Ibrahim // The Inspector General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun, on Friday, April 12, 2024, urged landlords and employers of domestic staff, popularly known as house help, to engage in profiling their new tenants and employees by registering them at various police stations across the country.

The IGP disclosed this in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, and posted on the X handle of the NPF.

There have been cases of domestic workers abducting children of their bosses while some landlords have given their houses to tenants who were later found to be kidnappers, armed robbers, cultists, among others.

Apparently reacting to these, the IGP on Friday urged all landlords as well as employers of domestic workers to ensure they visit police stations within their areas to request for, and fill forms for proper profiling of intended employees/tenants for employment and tenancy purposes.

This, the police boss said, was in order to strengthen the capacity of the Nigeria Police Force to identify and deter potential threats not only in the Federal Capital Territory FCT, but also across the country.

Part of the statement reads: “The Inspector General of Police also urged all landlords and employers of domestic staff in the Federal Capital Territory, and by extension other states of the federation, to ensure they visit police stations within their areas to request for, and fill forms for proper profiling of intended employees/tenants for employment and tenancy purposes.

This is in order to strengthen the capacity of the NPF to identify and deter potential threats within the FCT.
