OGUN STATE NOTORIOUS ARMED ROBBER NABBED IN LAGOS
By Olayiwola Ibrahim // Three suspected robbers terrorising the Ejirin community in the Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area of Ogun State have been arrested at their hideout in Lagos State.
According to reports, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, on Sunday that their arrest followed the apprehension of one member of the syndicate, who had gone to rob the Cele Ejirin community.
Odutola said upon the arrest and interrogation of the first suspect, identified as Qudri Yusuf, he led police operatives to their hideout in the Idioro area of Mushin, Lagos State, where two other members of the syndicate were arrested.
She identified the two suspected members of the syndicate as Bolaji Zutan and Oladimeji Yusuf.
The PPRO said, On 18/09/2024, following the confessional statement of an armed robbery suspect, one Qudri Yusuf, M, 30, who had gone to rob a resident at Cele Ejirin Road in Ijebu-Ode on 10/09/2024, he led the team of detectives to their criminal hideout at Idioro, Mushin, Lagos, where two other members of the armed robbery gang, one Bolaji Zutan, M, 19, and one Oladimeji Yusuf, M, 30, were arrested.
She added that exhibits, including cutlasses, were recovered from the suspects while stressing that efforts were ongoing to arrest other fleeing members of the syndicate.
Speaking furtherly on exhibits recovered from them include four cutlasses. Efforts are ongoing to arrest other fleeing suspects and possibly recover the stolen items, Odutola concluded.
PUNCH Metro reported on August 2 that two suspected Aiye Confraternity members, known as Adisa Abiodun and Rasheed Makinde, were arrested for allegedly participating in a robbery attack on Hommies Hotel in the Ijoko community of the Ado-Odo-Ota Local Government Area of the state.
Our correspondent learnt that the suspects had previously participated in raping a 25-year-old female staff member name withheld, who worked at the lounge and bar during the attack on the hotel.
A police operative involved in the arrest, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to speak for the command, had said that the suspects were a thorn in the flesh of the residents, wreaking terror and mayhem on the community.
