SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, THIEVES IN RECENT CRACKDOWN ACROSS SOUTH WEST STATES ARRESTED BY 81 DIVISION TROOPS
By Olayiwola Ibrahim // In a bid to uphold peace and security within its Area of Responsibility AOR, the 81 Division of the Nigerian Army NA, has launched a series of operations targeting criminal activities in Lagos and Ogun States.
Acting on actionable intelligence, the troops have successfully executed multiple operations throughout the week, leading to significant arrests linked to kidnapping, theft, and vandalism.
One of the notable arrests was that of Usman Abubakar, a 27-year-old suspected kidnapper from Badudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
Abubakar was apprehended while traveling from Benin, Edo State, to Epe, Lagos State.
He has since been transferred to Benin for further investigation.
In another operation, troops detained 32-year-old Uche Kehinde Akwari at Elegushi Beach in Lagos while he was engaged in the theft of building materials.
Additionally, nine suspects from Mashi Local Government Area of Katsina State were arrested at Bonny Cantonment Mammy Market.
These individuals were caught vandalizing and stealing bold spikes from floating buoys belonging to the NNPC Atlas Curve Company.
The suspects, including Sabiu Hashimu 20, Fahadu Maaru 22, Muhammed Salaudeen 18, Samaila Abubakar 20, Abdul Ahmadu 19, Nasiru Shuiabu 19, Tanko Sani 20, Safiyanu Madi 18, and Ibrahim Abdullahi 21, have been handed over to the appropriate security agencies for further investigation.
The operations, which involved both foot and vehicle patrols, underscore the Division’s commitment to curbing criminal activities and enhancing security in the region.
Major General Farouk Mijinyawa, the General Officer Commanding 81 Division NA, praised the public for their continued support and urged citizens to keep providing actionable intelligence.
He also commended the troops for their professionalism and dedication in ensuring the safety of communities in Lagos and Ogun States.
