SHEIKH IMRAN HIGHLIGHTS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF PROPHET YUSUF’S DREAM AND THE ROLE OF HIS BROTHERS IN HIS ABDUCTION, EMPHASIZING THE TWO TYPES OF DREAMS IN ISLAM

By Olayiwola Ibrahim // Sheikh Imran Abdul Majeed Eleha, a renowned Nigerian scholar, educator, and preacher, shed light on the significance of Prophet Yusuf’s (Joseph) dream in Suratul Yusuf, verse 4.
According to Sheikh Imran, Yusuf’s dream, in which he saw eleven stars, the sun, and the moon prostrating themselves before him, was a divine revelation from Allah.
Sheikh Imran explained that the eleven stars represented Yusuf’s eleven brothers, while the sun and moon symbolized his father, Prophet Ya’qub (Jacob), and his mother, respectively.
This dream was a sign of Yusuf’s future greatness and rise to power.
The Islamic scholar emphasized the importance of understanding the two types of dreams in Islam.
Ruya refers to true dreams that come from Allah, providing guidance and revelation.
The Quran mentions the dreams of Prophets Ibrahim (Abraham), Ishaq (Isaac), and Yusuf (Joseph) as examples of true dreams.
On the other hand, Hulm refers to false dreams that originate from Satan or one’s subconscious mind noting that these dreams are meaningless, misleading, and can deceive believers.
The Quran warns against being deceived by such dreams.
Sheikh Imran noted that Prophet Ya’qub recognized the significance of Yusuf’s dream and the potential danger it posed, as it indicated Yusuf’s future superiority over his brothers.
This led to the brothers’ jealousy and resentment, ultimately resulting in Yusuf’s abduction.
The Islamic educator urged Muslims to be cautious in their relationships with relatives, friends, and family, as they can pose a threat to one’s success and even lead to harm or death.
He advised Muslims to be discreet about sharing their success stories, citing the example of Yusuf’s dream and its consequences.
Sheikh Imran’s insightful commentary serves as a reminder for Muslims to be mindful of the importance of dreams, relationships, and humility in their daily lives.
Conclusively, he added that being a Muslim, doesnt not give room to be a fool.
