MALAWI UNITES: SIMILAR CHALLENGES, SIMILAR SOLUTIONS

Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Simplex Chithyola Banda has underscored the importance of unity in addressing Malawi’s economic challenges.
Speaking during the 2025-2026 Pre-Budget Consultation meeting in Mzuzu on Tuesday, Chithyola Banda noted that the similarities in contributions from stakeholders in the Central and Northern Regions demonstrate that Malawians are facing the same challenges across the country.
The minister emphasized that the concerns and contributions raised by various stakeholders are genuine and will be taken into consideration in the budgeting process.
Chithyola Banda expressed satisfaction with the submissions made so far and hopes to receive similar contributions in the Southern Region.
Yesterday, in Lilongwe, stakeholders gathered for the pre-budget consultation meeting, where they shared their concerns and suggestions for the upcoming budget.
The meeting was part of a nationwide effort to gather input from citizens and ensure that the budget addresses the country’s pressing challenges.
Cossam Munthali, Executive Director of the Foundation for Community Support Services (FOCUS), highlighted the significance of considering stakeholder contributions in the budgeting process.
Munthali emphasized that these contributions are crucial in improving the country’s economy.
As Malawi moves forward in crafting its 2025-2026 budget, it is clear that unity and collaboration will be essential in addressing the country’s economic challenges.
By considering the concerns and contributions of stakeholders from all regions, the government can create a budget that truly reflects the needs of the nation.
