MALAWI GEARS UP FOR INTERNATIONAL DAY OF EDUCATION

The Ministry of Education has announced that Malawi will commemorate the 2025 International Day of Education on January 31, 2025, with a national event at Katoto Secondary School hall.
This year’s theme, is “Artificial Intelligence and Education: Preserving Human Agency in a World of Automation,” highlights the transformative role of artificial intelligence in enhancing educational quality.
The event will feature a range of exhibitions and presentations showcasing innovative practices and technologies that can improve learning outcomes.
Speaking in an interview with Security Monitor, Ministry of Education Public Relations Officer, Mphatso Nkuonera, emphasized the importance of embracing technological advancements, especially artificial intelligence, to improve student learning experiences.
“The Ministry encourages the public to participate actively in this celebration,” Nkuonera said.
He said: “as part of the festivities, attendees are invited to wear a school uniform of their choice, symbolizing our collective commitment to education.”
This dress code serves as a reminder of the importance of education in shaping futures and fostering a knowledgeable society.
The event promises to be an informative and engaging experience, with opportunities for attendees to learn about the latest advancements in educational technology and discuss how these can be integrated into the classroom.
“We’re appealing to all stakeholders to participate in this memorable day,” Nkuonera added.
