The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has introduced a specialized certificate course on Arabic Language Proficiency for Hajj Managers at the Hajj Institute of Nigeria in Abuja, marking a significant milestone in improving the efficiency of Hajj operations in Nigeria.
NAHCON Chairman/CEO Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman inaugurated the program, which is a major step toward the nation’s Hajj administration being more professional.
The Arabic language proficiency course is designed to bridge the communication gap between Nigerian Hajj officials and their counterparts in Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, NAHCON, under the leadership of Professor Usman, has made a strategic move to equip Hajj managers with functional Arabic communication skills, which will improve service delivery and enhance the pilgrimage experience for Nigerian pilgrims.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman emphasized the necessity of this program, stating:
“This course on Arabic will equip our Hajj managers with the language skills necessary to communicate with Saudi officials, service providers, and the pilgrims they assist. NAHCON is dedicated to creating a workforce that is knowledgeable and well-trained to provide top-notch Hajj services,” Prof. Usman said
The program will be delivered by expert linguists, seasoned Hajj administrators, and scholars specializing in Arabic communication. The curriculum includes basic conversational Arabic, Hajj-specific terminologies, emergency response communication, and customer service interactions in Arabic.
The establishment of this Arabic language certificate class is part of NAHCON’s broader reforms to modernize and enhance Hajj operations in Nigeria. Since assuming office, Prof. Usman has outlined a series of capacity-building programs aimed at improving staff competency, efficiency, and professionalism.
