By James Ajibade// A spirited attempt by the detained former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria,CBN to regain the 753 Duplex Estate at the Federal Capital Territory Abuja has failed.
A Federal Capital Territory High Court, sitting in Apo, Abuja, and presided over by Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie dismissed the application brought by Emefiele asking the court to grant him possession of the multi billion Naira estate located at Plot 109, Cadastral Zone CO9, Lokogoma District, spans 150,462.84 square metres.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had in the course of investigation of the tenure of Emefiele discovered the property and approached the Court to grant it forfeiture order claiming that the Estate was built with proceeds of crime.
Though the property was first thought to be that of an unnamed Government official, after a court granted EFCC interim forfeiture order Emefiele through his lawyers approached the Court claiming to be an interested party in the property.
