Al-Mustapha declares for 2027 presidency under SDP

Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, former Chief Security Officer to the late General Sani Abacha, has officially entered the 2027 presidential race. He made the declaration on Tuesday in Minna, Niger State, during a consultative meeting with leaders and members of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Al-Mustapha said his decision stemmed from deep concern over Nigeria’s growing insecurity, economic hardship, and political instability. He pledged to prioritize national unity, ethical leadership, and grassroots development if elected president.
The SDP welcomed his candidacy, describing it as a strategic boost to its national relevance. Al-Mustapha also visited flood victims in Mokwa, showcasing a humanitarian gesture that aligns with his message of responsive and compassionate governance.
