BREAKING: NOTORIOUS ARMED ROBBER NABBED IN LAGOS
By Olayiwola Ibrahim / Lagos // The Lagos State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in crime detection with the arrest of John Samuel, a 28-year-old notorious armed robbery kingpin, hired assassin, and murderer.
Samuel, an ex-convict from Akwa Ibom State, was tracked and apprehended in his Epe hideout on September 19, 2025, around 2:00 p.m.
On August 18, 2025, Samuel shot and wounded businessman Gbenga Obama in broad daylight at Gbajobi Street, Allen Avenue, Ikeja, robbing him of an expensive gold necklace and other valuables.
CCTV footage captured the incident, showing Samuel firing an English pistol at the victim before fleeing with his accomplice on a motorcycle.
The police operatives successfully tracked Samuel down, and he was arrested in his hideout.
During interrogation, Samuel confessed to selling the stolen jewelry for ₦4 million, far below its actual value.
The police are now intensifying efforts to arrest other members of his gang and bring them to justice.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohudare Jimoh, praised the operatives for their gallantry and commitment, assuring Lagosians that discreet investigations are ongoing.
He reiterated the Command’s commitment to safety and protection, warning criminally minded individuals that Lagos has no hiding place for them.
The suspect and his accomplices will be prosecuted upon completion of the investigation.
The Lagos State Police Command urges residents to go about their lawful activities without fear or apprehension, assuring them of their safety and protection.
