The Blantyre Central Magistrate’s Court on December 19, 2025, adjourned the hearing of a case involving video jockey and filmmaker Kenneth Makina, popularly known as VJ Ken.

Makina is facing charges of allegedly abducting and engaging in sexual activity with a minor, allegations he has denied.

The matter had earlier been adjourned on November 21, 2025, when Senior Resident Magistrate Mercy Bonongwe postponed the case to December 19 and granted bail to the accused.

On the scheduled hearing date, the State was expected to continue presenting its witnesses before the court.

However, the proceedings did not continue as planned and the court adjourned the matter without hearing substantive testimony.

Despite earlier indications that witnesses would be heard, reports show that the case could not proceed on the day.

Kenneth Makina who has maintained his innocence, remains on bail as the case awaits its next hearing date.

His lawyer, Kondwani Denis Kumitengo, has previously indicated that the defence plans to call up to 48 witnesses once the prosecution closes its case.

The Blantyre Central Magistrate’s Court is now expected to resume hearing the matter on January 21.

The case has drawn public attention due to the serious allegations of trafficking and sexual abuse of a minor involving the popular video content creator, with the court set to determine the next steps when proceedings resume in the new year.
