TWO LIVES LOST IN OKOTA MINIBUS FIRE AS LASTMA RESCUES EIGHT
By Olayiwiola Ibrahim // The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) reports a tragic incident involving a mini yellow commercial bus (Faka SMK 823 YK) at the Ballet inward corridor to Mile 2, Okota, Isolo, claiming two lives and injuring several others.
An unknown private vehicle reversed on the main carriageway, forcing the minibus to brake abruptly, overturn, and catch fire.
The vehicle was carrying nine passengers, including the driver, and a five litre petrol container, which ignited after the crash.
LASTMA operatives responded swiftly, rescuing eight passengers and evacuating them to a nearby hospital.
The driver and a female passenger were tragically burnt beyond recognition.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Hon. Sola Giwa, expressed sorrow and warned motorists against reckless driving and reversing on highways, emphasizing the need for safety and compliance with traffic regulations.
LASTMA reiterates its commitment to protecting lives and property on Lagos roads and urges all road users to prioritize safety and cooperate with traffic authorities.
