The Nigeria Police Force mourns the loss of 17 gallant officers who paid the supreme price during a terrorist attack on the Army Special Forces School in Yobe State, the statement read.

The police extended condolences to the families of the deceased and reaffirmed their commitment to working with the Armed Forces to restore peace and security in the region.

The Force extends its deepest condolences to the families of the fallen officers and reaffirms its commitment to working with the Armed Forces to restore peace and security across the country, the release added.

Yobe State has been one of the areas most affected by insurgency in Nigeria’s northeast for over a decade.

The state shares borders with Borno and has frequently been targeted by Boko Haram and its splinter group, ISWAP.

Military and police formations, as well as civilian communities, have repeatedly come under attack in the region.

The Army Special Forces School in Yobe serves as a key training center for special operations units involved in counter-insurgency operations across the northeast.

Attacks on such facilities are often aimed at undermining military capacity and morale.

The NPF said it remains committed to the fight against terrorism alongside the military and other security agencies. The Force pledged continued collaboration to track down those responsible and prevent further attacks on security installations.

Security analysts note that joint operations between the police, army, and other agencies have intensified in recent months as part of efforts to stabilize the northeast ahead of the rainy season, when militant activity typically increases.

Further details on casualties, the circumstances of the attack, and ongoing operations are expected as investigations continue.

The NPF has urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information and to support security agencies with credible intelligence.
